Dairy Equipment Statistics Committee (DESC)

The Dairy Equipment Statistics Committee (DESC) provides a forum for member companies to report and maintain market statistics for equipment and technologies used throughout the milk harvesting process, from teat to tank. The committee supports the dairy equipment industry by promoting collaboration on market statistics, industry standards, and issues affecting dairy equipment manufacturers.

DESC reporting encompasses a broad range of dairy equipment categories, including milking systems, milk collection and cooling equipment, herd management and identification technologies, automation and robotic systems, animal monitoring solutions, and related dairy production technologies. The committee reports North America (U.S. and Canada) market statistics for participating product categories. The DESC has reporting programs across milk harvesting, cooling, identification, monitoring, automation, and data management technologies.

With roots dating back to 1946, the dairy equipment program has a long history of supporting the dairy industry and has been reporting market statistics for more than half a century. DESC continues to play an important role in maintaining the accuracy, consistency, and relevance of industry data while providing a forum for manufacturers to address issues affecting dairy equipment and related products.

The committee meets twice annually and may convene ad hoc working groups as needed to review product definitions, reporting practices, industry trends, and other committee-driven initiatives.

*DESC reporting programs are designed for equipment manufacturers.
