Manufacturers of Elevating Work Platforms Committee (MEWPC)
Mission
The Manufacturers of Work Platforms Committee (MEWPC) provides a forum for AEM member companies to share knowledge and collaborate on industry specific technical, regulatory, and safety issues. Members work collectively to advance the industry forward by fostering meaningful dialogue, developing unified industry positions, and encouraging the development and harmonization of national and international standards.
Responsibilities
The MEWPC serves as the technical committee for addressing regulatory, compliance, and safety issues related to the elevating work platform equipment industry. Key activities include:

Developing industry best practices focused on standardization, simplified sizing, and consistent terminology, and enhanced safety and efficiency of equipment design, manufacture, and application elevating work platforms.

Identifying, monitoring, and responding to changes in industry standards and regulations at all levels, offering best practices and strategies to address regulatory compliance.

Serving as a forum for identifying and discussing industry challenges, exchanging knowledge, and building consensus-based industry positions as necessary.
- Promoting and facilitating collaboration among members and engagement with related industry organizations to increase knowledge, grow awareness, and enhance industry reputation.
Product Focus
The MEWPC serves the needs of AEM member companies who manufacture scissor-type, boom-type and personnel-type work platforms (devices that are manually propelled or self-propelled, designed to position personnel, along with their necessary tools and materials, to work locations above and/or below the supporting surface).
Organization
The MEWPC reports to the Construction Equipment Council (CEC).
Meetings
The MEWPC meets at least once annually, with additional meetings held as needed.
